Humberto Alcides Rua Bolanos, a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, left this world on April 20, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on October 22, 1928, in Barranquilla, Colombia, Humberto lived a life rich with love, dedication, and vibrant connections with those around him.
He was the cherished son of the late Juan and Isabel (Bolanos) Rua. He was preceded in death by his devoted and loving wife of 64 years, Idacira "Blanca" Rua, who was truly the light of his life. They shared countless memories together, and their bond was an inspiring testament to love and partnership. Humberto was also preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Farides “Dede” Belliveau, and his late nephew, Eddie Navarro, both of whom he missed dearly.
Throughout his life, Humberto was a source of strength and support for his family. He is survived by his three children, Maribel Rua and her husband Richard Ricci, Jaime Rua, and Humberto Rua, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and generosity. He was a proud grandfather to eight grandchildren: Duane Rua, Daniela Rua, Ariyanna Rua, Laura Rua, Humberto Rua, Mariela Rua, Gabriela Belliveau, Emily Belliveau and Elizabeth Belliveau. He had a remarkable ability to extend his hand to anyone in need, always willing to lend support and kindness. Known for his humility, Humberto was a man who left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him.
He was also a proud member of the Colombian community, where he and his late wife were pioneers, fostering connections and supporting the culture they held dear. They enjoyed their retirement together in Florida, where Humberto developed a passion for gardening, particularly nurturing his vegetable garden, which served as a symbol of his love for nurturing life and family.
Humberto was a man defined by his devotion to his family. He was a guiding force, bringing everyone together and ensuring that love and laughter were abundant in their lives. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched with his kindness and unwavering support.
In his later years, Humberto spent his final days at Lincolnwood Rehab in North Providence, where he was surrounded by caring staff. The family wishes to express their gratitude for the compassionate care he received during his time there.
